Today I had the pleasure and privilege to meet Colin and his sister in law Sandra. They were at PBL giving over £1400.00 to the Support Group so that we can continue to give those special things to all patients and relatives that make life just that little bit easier when life seems so sad and bleak. Thank you so much Colin for your generosity and kindness. Here is what Colin had to say..
No amount of money that we could donate, would ever be enough to repay the deep debt of gratitude that we owe to all the staff who looked after my late wife, June Waters, during her stay at the PBL. The kindness, care and compassion shown by all the staff was an absolute credit to the whole team. From the dedicated doctors, who always had the time to talk about the “little things” whilst making big decisions about treatment. The nurses who no matter how busy they were, always made sure that she receive her “top up” pain relief as quickly as possible. The health care assistants who saw to her “personal requirements” in such a cheerful friendly manner, and always made her feel so comfortable and at ease. The phyisio team, who worked so hard to try and give June back the use of her legs. The occupational team who made sure we were given every piece of equipment at home, so June had what was needed. The always smiling tea lady, who would make sure that I had a cup as well as the patients. And what can you say about the volunteers, of all ages and backgrounds who give up their time so selflessly, just to help others in their time of need. Lastly, the team that helped with arranging for June’s care at home, the social worker who eased the worry of bureaucracy and the nurses who argued to ensure the care plan was fit for purpose.
How can a little money repay all those people for all that they did, day after day for several weeks. All I can say on behalf of June’s family a friends is thank you all.
Once again, many many thanks for your help. – Colin Waters and June’s sister Sandra.
