Male Voice Choir pleased to benefit us as their charity of the year 2019

A catch up on the great Christmas donations from Norwich Phoenix Male Voice Choir.

Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group has benefited by over £1,050 because of the generosity of audiences attending concerts of Norwich’s Phoenix Male Voice Choir during the year.  Nominated as the Choir’s Charity of the Year for 2019, some of the Choir know a number of our volunteers, and therefore we became a natural choice when they selected the beneficiary of their fundraising focus in 2019.

Money to benefit the Support Group has been raised all through the year by audiences, choir members and their singing guests at the male voice choir’s concerts in the City and Thorpe St Andrew through sharing raffle proceeds, receiving voluntary donations for complimentary interval refreshments and by giving us permission for us to hold retiring bucket collections after their concerts.

During Phoenix’s Christmas Concert at Norwich’s Mile Cross Methodist Church and with an audience numbering well over one hundred, Choir Chairman Ian Masters, Support Group Secretary and Trustee Elizabeth Stallwood and Trustee Pam Evans took part in a Q&A presentation on the work of the Priscilla Bacon Lodge Support Group. With everyone at the concert having learnt how valuable donations are to the Group’s activities, Ian was then delighted to reveal that a minimum of £1,000 will have been raised by the fundraising activities at the Choir’s concerts during 2019.

Ian Masters said, “We at Phoenix are delighted to confirm that this sum has been raised to assist the Support Group’s work, the valuable nature of which is clear to all who listened to Elizabeth’s and Pam’s presentation at our concert, and we wish them all well in their future work.”

The final figure raised for the Support Group from the generous efforts of Norwich and Thorpe St Andrew concert audiences, members and guests of Norwich’s Phoenix Male Voice Choir in 2019 was £1,053.64.

Added to this magnificent total is a further £50.00 raised by Sarah, the conductor,  who plays the piano for the Male Vocal Quartet – THE FOUR HOARSEMEN. Three of these gentlemen sing with Phoenix, and the fourth is a former member.

They gave a voluntary concert to Catton Court Residents’ Association in Norwich just before Christmas, at the request of one of the Phoenix members. They kindly donated the sum raised to the Phoenix’ charity of the year – Priscilla Bacon Lodge Suppport Group
