AGM News
We had a lovely time at the Support Groups AGM on Wednesday 17 May.
Twice our chairman had to stop the ‘Networking’ ( I suspect a new term for gossiping or catching up!!) to get us down to business . But it is wonderful to see so many old friends and members and to hear what their experiences have been over the last year.
Lady Bacon had been very busy on our behalf with opening the third Pop Up shop in Taverham in the morning and then introducing the meeting in the evening, She had also brought the cake along from that opening for us all to share. It was very pretty and made in the bright pink of the new Hospice. I’m afraid there was very little over by the end of the evening as Audrey Belshaw and Margo Benns, who provided the tea and biscuits, pointed out!!
Philip Norton, Chairman, spoke of the need, due to the Charity Commission requirements and the enhancement in scope for the service, for a new updated constitution. He took us though the changes which were then voted in.
Shorthose Russell talked us through the new website. Please send us news, comments and photos to update the website via this form.
We were treated to an update of the Specialist Palliative Care Service by Dr Katie Soden Senior Palliative Care Consultant explaining that the Lodge had seen more patients than the national average and how the service was involved in research and audit.
Roisin Fallon Williams, Chief Exec of Norfolk Community Heath and Care Trust , the gave us an interesting talk on The Provision of Palliative Care’.
We were all delighted to be there when Lady Bacon gave The Priscilla Bacon Award for Outstanding service to Caroline Coppings. Caroline has done outstanding work for patients and relatives at Priscilla Bacon Lodge over many many years.
